Combat typically takes 3-5 minutes per match. Some quests you may attempt, such as the Endless Dungeon, can be much longer. Set aside some time accordingly if you plan to start a battle or a quest in the middle of your day.
If you need to pause, you can do so in the middle of quests, but not in the middle of combat.
If you ever get timed out or lose access to your buttons in a fight or in any menu, you can always reset your playroom by going back to the Play Here channel and clicking “Play” once again.
Alchemy: Battle for Ankhos is more fun with friends! Once you have completed our tutorial, you will be able to invite new players to the Discord server. Try battling against them to prove your skills.

2. Tutorial Walkthrough
When you first join our Discord server and begin your adventure, you will be prompted to play our tutorial in a channel called Tutorial Island.
Begin the tutorial by clicking the “Start” button.
After clicking “Start”, the Alchemy Guide will prompt you to enter your “playroom”. Your playroom is where all of your personal gameplay experiences will take place.
To access your playroom you can either:
- Click the highlighted playroom name in the Alchemy Guide’s message, or
- Click the thread labeled “Your Name playroom” below the Tutorial Island channel in the channel list on the left
Once you enter your playroom, you will see a preview of your first battle. Exciting! Your player name is at the top left of the image, which indicates your Descendant - or your fighter - is on the left side. Your opponent, the Tutorial AI, is on the right side.
To begin fighting, click the “Start Battle” button.
Once your battle begins, you will see a preview of both your own team and your opponent’s team.
Your team - indicated in blue - has a Rogue in the frontline and nobody in the mid or backline. Their name is “tutorial ally” and their skills are “Backstab” and “Viper Strike”.
Your opponent’s team - indicated in red - has a Mage with different skills. Once you get to know what each skill in Alchemy does, this information will become more useful in planning your combat strategy.
Now, it’s time to choose an action for your first move! You will see the “Use a Skill” button at the bottom, which is the only action you have access to in this first fight. Give it a go!
In Alchemy: Battle for Ankhos, you’ll always get one action per turn.
After both you and your opponent have selected their action for the turn, Alchemy Guide will briefly calculate the results of your turn. You will then see the results of the turn in two formats: text and video.
The text version of your turn is hidden by default, so to unveil it, try clicking the darkened bars of text above the video.
If you would prefer to watch a video of your turn playing out, you can click the play button on the attached video labeled “Turn 1 / 2 / 3 / etc.”
As you progress through the tutorial battles, make sure you read the instructions! Combat in Alchemy: Battle for Ankhos can feel quite complex, but the instructions in the tutorial should help you understand the strategy behind your actions.
If you don’t understand specific combat mechanics, you can learn all there is to know here: Combat Mechanics
Once you have progressed to Battle 3 of the tutorial, you will notice a “i” information button next to your action buttons. Try clicking it to learn more about your current fight!
From this information menu, you can view the current stats, skills, and positions of both your team and your opponent’s team. Stats such as HP and Speed will become useful as your combat strategy becomes more advanced.
You will also notice a “Forfeit” button at the bottom. If you would like to abandon your current fight, you can do so by forfeiting.
Keep in mind that when you forfeit, you may suffer consequences such as losing points in ranked combat, eliminating yourself from a tournament, or losing loot you find on a quest.
In order to become an official citizen of Khemia, you will need to create a Descendant and complete the prelude quest: The Fall.
If you ever feel like trying the tutorial again, you can do so by navigating back to the Tutorial Island channel at any time.
3. Practicing Combat in the Colosseum
After you have completed the prelude quest: The Fall, you will still have many classes and skills to learn! It’s time to select a team and challenge an AI opponent in the Colosseum.
The Play Here channel is where you will always return to play Alchemy: Battle for Ankhos after you have completed the tutorial.
Once you have entered your playroom, you will see a variety of actions to take in the main gameplay menu.
Let’s start by clicking “Select Team”.
In the Select Team menu, you will see a variety of preset team options along with their descriptions. We highly recommend starting with a preset team!
However, if you’re feeling creative and want to build your own team from a variety of classes, you can click the “Custom” button.
Choosing “Custom” is also where you will find the Descendants you have created.
If you clicked “Custom”, you will have the option to choose from Descendants you created or preset ones. You will then see a menu of Descendants that you can add to your lineup.
You need to select three (3) in order to complete your team.
Once you have selected your team, you are ready to practice combat!
Let’s click the “Colosseum” button.
You will have access to three difficulties of practice fights against the AI in the Colosseum: Easy, Medium, or Hard. If you are new to the game, we highly suggest clicking “Easy”.
Your opponent will be using a random preset team and their decisions are driven by AI, so each fight is different. Come back to the Colosseum to practice with your team any time you’d like. And if you aren’t feeling your team, go back to “Select Team” and try another!
To learn more about each of the classes and skills in Alchemy: Battle for Ankhos, read here: Classes and Skills
4. Competing Against Friends in PvP
Once you have practiced with your team, you may want to test your skills against a friend in some player-versus-player (PvP) combat!
To challenge another player to combat, head to the Colosseum from your playroom and select PvP.
Next, find the player you want to fight by typing their Discord ID into the search bar.
Both you and your opponent must have a valid team selected prior to requesting a battle!
If you need to select your team, head back to #play-here → Select Team.
Your opponent will have a few minutes to accept your combat request, which can be found in the #pvp-battles channel.
Upon accepting your request, a new battle thread will be created under #pvp-battles and you will both be notified to begin!
During your turns, you will each have 60 seconds to decide your actions. If you do not click an action, you will Fierce Attack by default.
Good luck and have fun!
5. Questing
Available now! This part of the wiki is under construction.
6. Competing In Tournaments
Once you’ve practiced some battles against AI and friends, you may feel ready to test your skills against the greater Alchemy: Battle for Ankhos community!
Currently, we hold weekly PVP tournaments open to an unlimited number of players every weekend. There is no cost to compete.
To sign up for a tournament, go to Play Here and click “Tournaments”.
If there is a tournament open for registration, you will see the type of tournament (Double Elimination in this case) and the current number of registered competitors.
To sign up using the team you have selected, click “OK”. If you would rather update your selected team before signing up, please do so by returning to your playroom and selecting a new team. Then, return to this page to sign up.
You can always change your team after signing up for a tournament by coming back to the “Tournaments” menu before tournament play begins!
Once tournament play begins, you will automatically be seeded into a bracket with your fellow competitors. Matches are queued automatically in their own battle rooms, so look for the battle room where you’ve been tagged to confirm you are ready to fight!
Players will have five minutes to ready their matches. If you do not show up before the five minute timer ends, you will automatically forfeit the match to your opponent.
Wins and losses are reported automatically, so after your fight ends, keep your eyes out for your next match. Even if you are eliminated, you can still watch everyone else’s matches to see who wins!
If you are a lucky winner of one of our tournament prize pools, the prize will be automatically sent to your in-game wallet. Follow the instructions of this next section to access your prizes.
7. Verifying Your Digital Wallet (Optional)
For a beginner’s guide to digital wallets and managing your Alchemy game wallet, read this article!
By default, every new Alchemy player will have a game wallet created for them.
You can access this wallet and add your own by heading to Play Here and clicking “Verify”.
To verify your wallet, you will need to send it a small amount of $SOL, the Solana token, from the wallet you plan on using for all of your future Alchemy: Battle for Ankhos on-chain actions.
Once your in-game wallet has received the SOL, your personal wallet will be verified! You can now withdraw tournament prizes, as well as any other in-game assets, to your personal wallet using the /withdraw
command. You may also check the balance of your game wallet at any time using the /balance
command.
Tip: If you want to take full control of your in-game wallet, use the command “/private-key” to access its private key. NEVER SHARE YOUR PRIVATE KEY WITH ANYONE as it unlocks access to all of your in-game assets. As always, make sure your store copies of your private key in a safe place.
For help with wallets, questions about on-chain actions in Alchemy, or general questions about blockchain and web3, ask away in our Support channel!
